Bec Winnell @ Just Another Project Space

My two favourite illustrators of all time are - Kareena Zerefos - and Bec Winnel.
If you don't already know how good Bec's work is - here's an example....

My Mom asked me to send through some pictures of her work, and she wrote back "That's great, but I'm only getting pictures of beautiful girls having their make up done - where's Bec's stuff?"
"ah, Mom, they're drawings!! That's why I love her."

What I love most about Bec's work is her ability to create a masterpeice that looks more realistic than a photo. The attention to detail is outstanding and is so inspiring - I just wanted to go home and draw!

Bec's exhibition had the theme of 'Muliebrity', a word that I can happily add to my vocabulary! It means
  1. The state or quality of being a woman, the features of woman's nature.
    • ca 1693, Thomas Urquhart, Rabelais, page 3:32:270:
      Individual Womanishness or Muliebrity.
    • 1904, H.B. Marriott-Watson, “The American Woman: An Analysis”, The Nineteenth Century and After, volume 56, page 435:
This permanence of muliebrity serves to indicate the requirements of natural law.
    • 1996, Joni Arredia, Muliebrity: Qualities of a Woman
  2. The coordinate term to virility, in an analogy with the coordinate terms of femininity and masculinity.
    • 1922, Beckles Willson, England, page 182:
both principles are necessary to a nation,--that in proportion as the muliebrity of the one sex declines, the virility of the other also lessens
  3. Femininity, specifically the feminine form of an adult woman.

Check out her amazing work...

i got these pics from her website - more amazing stuff here!
